James 1:19-20 NIV

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.

Heavenly Father,

You are a God of wisdom, patience, and righteousness, teaching us to value understanding and self-control in our interactions. Your guidance illuminates the path to peaceful living and just communities. We come before You now, asking for Your blessings upon Shelby County, Tennessee, that our community might thrive under Your principles of love and righteousness.

Empower us to be quick to listen and slow to speak, fostering an environment where every voice is heard and valued. In moments of disagreement, grant us the grace to respond with patience, seeking to understand rather than to prevail. Help us to remember that anger does not bring about the righteousness You desire.

Guide our hearts and our actions toward the peaceful resolution of conflicts. May our community be a place where differences are resolved with compassion and respect, reflecting Your love in every interaction. Encourage us to support one another in love, building up Shelby County as a beacon of Your grace and peace.

Bless our leaders with the wisdom to govern with fairness and integrity, always seeking the common good. Inspire all residents to contribute to the well-being of our community, working together to ensure that every individual has the opportunity to flourish.

In all things, may we strive to embody the righteousness You desire, living in a way that honors You and uplifts our neighbors. We trust in Your provident care and pray for Your continued guidance and blessing upon Shelby County.

We offer this prayer in the name of Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

Amen.
