Romans 13:6-7 NIV
This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
Heavenly Father,
You are the ultimate authority, and in Your wisdom, You have established governments and leaders to serve and govern according to Your righteous will. We come to You now on behalf of Shelby County, Tennessee, asking that You guide our community in fulfilling our responsibilities with integrity and honor.
We pray for our leaders, those You have placed in positions of authority. Grant them the wisdom to govern with justice and the compassion to serve the common good. Help them to see their roles as You see them, as servants tasked with stewardship over the community You love.
Instill in us, the residents of Shelby County, a spirit of cooperation and respect. Help us to fulfill our obligations faithfully, whether they be paying taxes, giving revenue, showing respect, or offering honor. May our actions reflect our commitment to the well-being of our community and our trust in Your sovereign rule.
Encourage us to support one another in love, fostering an environment where each person is valued and dignity is upheld. Strengthen our bonds of community, and guide us in living out Your command to love our neighbors as ourselves.
Protect our community from division and strife. Lead us in paths of righteousness for Your name's sake, and may Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
We place our hopes and dreams for Shelby County into Your faithful hands, trusting that You will lead us toward a prosperous and peaceful future.
We offer this prayer in the powerful and loving name of Christ Jesus.
Amen.
